Welcome, AI Strategists
💫 Current thoughts: Last week the CEO of Cloudflare looked at his own traffic data and basically said welp. He'd forecast that automated bots would outnumber humans on the web sometime in 2027. Instead it happened now — 57.5% of web requests are bots, 42.5% are people. And these aren't the spammy crawlers you're picturing. They're AI agents reading product pages, comparing prices, and handling customer service on behalf of actual humans.
One honesty note, because the headlines are sloppy about it: that's a count of requests, not attention. People still spend far more time on the web than agents do. The machines aren't replacing you on the internet — they're running your errands on it.
Now hold that next to a second number. Anthropic published internal data this week showing more than 80% of the code they ship is now written by their own AI, and that the human job has narrowed to one thing: deciding what's worth building, and whether the result can be trusted.
Same story, both ends of the screen. The doing — the browsing, the fetching, the building — is collapsing toward free. What's left for us is judgment.
So the question I'd sit with this week isn't whether AI is moving fast. It's whether the work you're quietly counting on to stay valuable is doing… or deciding.
